As expected, Paramount announced that Star Trek Into Darkness will be arriving on DVD and Blu-Ray this fall, with a physical release date of Sept. 10, 2013 on Blu-Ray and DVD. What was unexpected was the announcement of the digital release three weeks earlier on Aug. 20, 2013. While it’s not uncommon for the digital […]
LeVar Burton “conflicted” over new Star Trek film; says it “needs Gene”
Love them or hate them, but TMZ sometimes gets a good story that has nothing to do with drunk driving or overdoses. They recently met up with LeVar Burton who was asked about his views on the new Star Trek film. His response:
At the end of the movie I really care about what happens to the characters, but I’m pretty much missing Gene Roddenberry in J.J.’s interpretation. And at the end of the day, that’s just not OK for me.
An interesting interpretation of the film. While I personally liked it and felt it was a logical extension of the last film, it is missing Gene’s vision. However, movies can’t always reflect visions like that. Movies are made for the big screen, for large audiences. Is it OK to put the vision aside for the films and keep the vision on TV? Let us know.

It was announced today that Star Trek Into Darkness has now outgrossed its predecessor by almost $30 million. When you think of soap box racers, you think of single-person cars, aerodynamically built for racing down a hill at whizzing speeds. Star Trek fan Rob Wixey took to doing something a little different, and created a soap box racer in the shape of the Enterprise. While it won’t win any awards for aerodynamic design, […]

Robert Picardo visits Vulcan
Robert Picardo traveled to Alberta, Canada to take part in the “Spock Days” festivities alongside Ethan Phillips, also from Star Trek: Voyager. Sporting a Doctor Who shirt that reads “You never forget your first Doctor”, our favorite holodoctor @RobertPicardo dropped by a sign saying “Welcome to Vulcan” and snapped a picture on his Twitter feed […]

Oh, myyyyy! George Takei’s ghostwriter spills the beans
I think of myself as a realist. When I see celebrities posting hilarious pictures and jokes on Facebook or Twitter I wonder if that’s truly them because they seem to have more time on their hands than they should (I’m looking at you, @WilliamShatner). Last week, comedian Rick Polito accidentally spilled the beans that he’s […]
